Our school - a message from our 2011 Student Leaders
As Student Leaders we welcome you to Ferncourt Public School - our beautiful and unique school. We invite and welcome everyone from diverse cultures, backgrounds and religions.
In our seven years of primary school we have learnt to respect and value each other, our unique cultures, shared values, diverse opinions and the environment – both school and community.
As student leaders we continually discuss, plan and work on how we can make Ferncourt a better place to work, learn and have fun.
Being student leaders involves being positive role models to our fellow peers by fostering mutual respect in our teachers, principal, parents and peers.
We work closely with parents and the community on projects that benefit our school and local community. Each year we produce a gift to the school – be it a mural or a piece of furniture for our beautiful gardens – a permanent legacy of our time at the school.
On behalf of the students of Ferncourt Public School we welcome you to come and visit our school and share the magic, sense of community and beautiful grounds that surround our unique and special school.
Student leadership overview
Ferncourt encourages responsibility and leadership skills in all our students. We have class captains, house captains and library monitors. We also run a Student Representative Council and elect Student Leaders.
Student Representative Council
The Student Representative Council is made up of one boy and one girl elected by fellow students from each class, in a secret ballot. Once elected, the SRC meets with each class to give students a chance to put forward ideas about what they want improved and how. The SRC fundraise to improve the school and organise other fun events.
Student Leaders
Student Leaders are eight selected students (4 boys and 4 girls) from year 5. Candidates give a speech to students and teachers from Years 2 to 6 and then students vote. Student Leaders run events and assemblies, as well as help the teachers by ringing the bell, monitoring students and other assorted jobs.
